Helping hands, healing hearts. That is the mission of Project Nurture, a new initiative the Focus Learning Academies of Columbus, Ohio have established as a way to serve a student population in need.

Focus Learning Academy’s first three years of operation has fostered a culture dedicated to assisting both young parents and pregnant teens. The commitment to help these students is the result of interacting first hand with them on a daily basis. These teens and young adults are attending our schools with the passion and desire to better themselves. They attend the Focus Learning Academy with the hope of creating a better life for their children then their own.

Many of them have inspirationally courageous spirits. They balance the new responsibilities of parenthood, with the rigors financial freedom and the importance of getting an education. Itís because of this spirit we want give them every opportunity in our power to succeed.

Everyday, many of our students face the difficulty of procuring even the most basic necessities for their children. They need diapers, baby shampoo, clothing and an assortment of other items to properly care for their children. The goal of Project Nurture is to obtain these types of items for our students, but not just to be given as a handout, but also as a way to connect with them on a deeper level.

We will also be introducing two Project Nurture courses for school credit. These courses will not only be a way to coordinate baby supply needs, but will also teach the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as parents. These courses will offer the students mentorship and living skills that go beyond child rearing. There will be required attendance protocols for credit and performance in the course will be vital to their participation in Project Nurture.

We are in need of local organizations to partner with us and help seek donations. Initially we will not be seeking any sort of monetary donations, as we are not a 501 3c corporation. We are only seeking donations of goods and services.
